A fountain cover is beneficial to prolonging the life of your outdoor water fountain. Especially for those who live in areas with changing seasons, the freezing/thawing of water residue as well as snow built up can be harsh to the surface of your fountain as well as cause damage. For just a little additional cost, you can make sure your outdoor fountain stays protected in all kinds of weather and climates.

One particularly hearty cover I’ve found for not much cost has been the Veranda Fountain Cover. It’s a lightweight canvas construction, so unlike vinyl which can potentially crack, this fabric bends and flexes with the elements. But, its surface has been treated with a special water repellent formula to repel water and moisture combined with built in vents for slight airflow for condensation which may be trapped underneath. This way, with the air flow, those wet spots don’t fester into mold or mildew and give you an unpleasant surprise when spring comes.

Most covers I see you either throw over your outdoor fountain or some come with elastic straps to kind of secure it to your fountain, but I find these devices clumsy at best. How is the cover supposed to protect your fountain if a strong wind can blow it off? The ingenious design of this Veranda cover is an elastic hem with a cord and toggle so you can pull the string to get a close fit to the fountain at the bottom, and straps secure the cover to the base of your fountain. There’s no way a wind will take that baby off.

All in all, this is a pretty prime example of a fountain cover on the market which is affordable and durable enough. This way, you can make your fountain last a little longer.

I’ve always been a traditional outdoor fountain kind of person. But, I don’t have a very big yard, so I’m limited to the amount of décor I can have, not to mention having 10 bird baths or fountains in my garden area looks a little tacky. Even with everything I had, however, my garden still seemed to be lacking, so I explored the different kinds of fountains I could potentially have in my yard.

I know you’ll probably laugh, but this was the first time I’ve heard of outdoor wall fountains. Scrolling down various categories on water fountain websites, I came across a wall fountain tab. It was so exciting because for the first time I realized I could have a different dimension of fountains. Most of mine are stand alone fountains which come no higher than my hip. But, to mount a fountain to my wall at whatever height would really open up my entire outdoor area, and had the uniqueness I was looking for.

The Milano Outdoor Wall Fountain is constructed from resin, making it lightweight for an easy hang from my wall and also making it low-maintenance. For instance, forbid this ever happens, but if a bird poops on this fountain, I just take a wet rag and wipe it off. It’s a different story with stone, especially if it gets baked in the sun. Talk about elbow grease!

But this water fountain has the effect and look of real stone, which is what I like. The mounting instructions seem easy, and as far as placement, I’m only limited by the cord length and distance to an outlet. Other than that, it’s exactly what I was hoping for.

This Umbrella Series Solar Fountain: Boy & Girl Piggyback is a really brilliant fountain. The umbrella design actually makes it look like it’s “raining” over the little boy and girl statuettes.  I just found this too adorable to pass up! The stone-like coloring makes this a really easy fountain to match, because I know a lot of times I’ll find a fountain which, by itself, it gorgeous but the colors are too bold for the rest of my garden décor. The simplicity of this fountain is what makes it so beautiful to me.

What I love most is its resin construction. Resin makes things so much easier to work with and does a great job mimicking the real thing without the disadvantages of real stone or slate. A really key feature to garden fountains is a lightweight characteristic. Maybe the rest of the world isn’t as indecisive as I am, but I am constantly moving and rearranging the look of my garden. A resin fountain makes it really easy to do that because they’re so light.

Resin is also a lot cheaper than other materials, so that’s another bonus when you’re looking for outdoor fountains. You can be really limited in your water fountain choices if you’re on a budget, so a resin fountain is ideal. Also, resin is super easy to clean and maintain.

Another cute feature about this outdoor water fountain is that it doubles as a bird bath fountain. I never set up a bird feeder because those stupid squirrels would scare off the birds and gorge themselves on the seeds. But this fountain attracts birds with its bath like feature, which was a surprising bonus for me.

Overall, I think this is a pretty awesome fountain to have for your outdoors if you’re looking for something easy and unique.

Garden fountains are always a good idea even if the garden that you have is smaller than most. The fact is that an outdoor water fountain not only increases the allure of outdoor décor, but it also ads a bit of serenity to the venue. Some people actually refer to them as feng shui fountains because it is believed that the tranquility of the running water brings about balance and positivity.

There are different types of outdoor water fountains that you can put in your garden, and depending on the type you choose they can also serve multiple purposes. For instance, if you are looking to match décor with your outdoor patio furniture, you can opt for stone fountains to go with wooden or wicker patio sets and copper fountains to go with aluminum patio sets.  As a matter of fact, you can incorporate them vice versa depending on furniture color and your own sense of style.

Additionally, if you take a look at some of the tiered fountains, you will notice that they resemble a high-tech bird bath and as such, they may attract these beautiful creatures to come and sing or splash about in your garden.  Furthermore, if you own a dog and its doghouse is in the garden, you can get low fountains which your pet can drink from or higher fountains if you rather they didn’t drink from it.

Imagine a garden with green grass, some teak wood furniture, a wooden porch swing and last but not least, a fabulous cast stone fountain. Whether you believe in the art of feng shui or not, you cannot deny that having your own garden fountain will improve your mood as well as the look of your outdoor décor. It is understandable if you do not wish to take on any more energy expense during these economically challenged times, but you can opt for solar fountains instead, thus reducing any additional energy expense while being eco friendly.

If you are planning to buy a decorative water fountain for indoor or outdoor use, you should take the time to learn about your options so that you can make an informed decision. Below you will be introduced to different types of water fountains and where they are normally used.

Other popular types of garden fountains are the boulder or rock fountains; these tend to resemble a stack of rocks with water flowing through its center, slightly resembling a waterfall. Some of them are even equipped with LED lights at the base of the waterfall which casts a heavenly glow that radiates within the clear water.

Wall fountains are very popular, but they are often seen indoors or on a patio rather than in a garden. They come in diverse sizes and can range from the size of a wall clock to a full length mirror. They are called wall fountains because they are hung up on walls like animated paintings, but they provide a more dramatic effect. Large wall fountains are seen more as commercial fountains because they are often used in corporate offices and large buildings where come companies even go as far as to imprint their logo onto the background of the waterfall.  While you will see many stone wall fountains, the larger ones are generally made of copper or fiberglass, but copper wall fountains are more popular in the corporate society.

The office is one of the places where stress and anxiety are often present. Due to these working conditions employees suffer from frequent headaches, are prone to illness, or may even suffer from worse health problems, such as depression. Thus, to have some elements in the office that will help relax the ambient, like indoor water fountains, is essential in the decoration process. The Feng Shui fountains are definitely one of the best choices for this purpose.

The Feng Shui is ancient Chinese art of placement of items that represent certain elements within an area, to create positive flow of the energies. The whole art involves five elements, metal, fire, wood, earth and water. These elements have colors that represent them, that can be implemented in the design of the Feng Shui fountain, making it ideal addition to any area created around the principles of the Feng Shui.

The water is the easiest element to incorporate in the design of the Feng Shui fountain. It is essential part of any indoor water fountain without which none can function. The water is represented with the colors black and blue. The metal element can be incorporated in the Feng Shui fountain design by the white color, but also through metal objects, such as fountain bases, sculptures, or even wind chimes. The element of fire is either represented by the red color, or by the burning candles and incenses, and by the small oil lamps that create low flames.

The element of wood and its green color can be incorporated in the design of the Feng Shui fountain with simply producing the fountain from wood, or by adding green additions to the fountain. And, the earth element and its representatives, the yellow color and the natural materials, stone, ceramic and clay, can be applied by producing the Feng Shui fountain from these materials.

The Feng Shui fountains can balance the energy flow in certain area either by the five Feng Shui elements or by the soothing sounds and the relaxing ambient it makes with the flowing water that significantly reduces the stress level in the offices.
