Spring came early in WI this year and after getting my outdoor fountains out this past weekend I wanted to share with you all what a delight they are. My favorite, the Shell Outdoor Wall Fountain. I found a new place for it this year and can’t wait for my flowers to bloom to accent it. I put the Shell fountain on the side of my garage close to the entrance way and I love how it looks in my flower bed and how it sounds through my open windows.

The wall fountain is lightweight so it is very easy to hang, just takes one screw, it is easy to clean as it can just be lifted off the wall and cleaned out and it is easey to fill. I just stick my hose in the basin and fill it up as needed. The sounds as the water falls out of the shell and overflows the center bowl causing water to fall in several streams into the large bottom bowl. The sound are amazing. All you need is a spot where everyone can enjoy the sights and sounds and an electrical outlet and you are set! Just hang it up, fill it up and plug it in.

Many people think the outdoor fountains are a pain to clean and keep debris out of. This is a common misconception. The pumps do a good job of keeping debris out of the tubing and as long as you just pick any larger leaves out of the basin and clean the fountain once a month or so by emptying it, cleaning the pump and refilling you are set! The hardest thing to get used to is keeping enough water in it. Depending on the humidity level you may need to add water very 2-5 days. Rain water is actually good for them as well so no need to worry about the rain. The other common mistake with fountains is turning them on and off all the time. These outdoor wall fountains can run 24/7. The only real time you need to turn them off is if you will be gone for days at a time as you don’t want it to run out of water.
