If you are looking for an outdoor or garden fountain chances are you have come across solar fountains as an option of choice. How do you decide if you should choose a solar fountain or electric? Typically it comes down to two things, the look of the fountain you are after or the fact that you don’t have an electrical outlet available where you want to place the fountain.
If you are going with a solar fountain you will find that your selection is a bit limited compared to electric fountains simply because the solar panel and pump technology doesn’t lend itself to larger fountains yet. The main complaint about solar fountians is that they run solely on solar power from the sun and do not store power. If it is a cloudy day or if the sun goes down for a bit the fountain will stop pumping water for the time being. I don’t mind this however as the beauty of the fountain still serves as a garden accent piece and a source of fresh water for my feathered friends.
